What we've built

From 2004 to 2012, Advantage Design built homes and small commercial and public buildings across Acadiana, with post-Katrina work in New Orleans. Most of those homes were designed and built in-house.

New single-family homes

70+ homes in Carencro, Broussard, Youngsville, Scott, Lafayette Parish and Maurice. Most were built for sale in growing subdivisions. The company bought the lots, designed plans suited to each neighborhood, and saw each house through construction to closing.

Homes built for owners

New homes built for their owners in Youngsville, Lafayette Parish, Broussard, Scott, Maurice and Judice Farms Estates, including custom homes and a tile-roof home.

Brick homes

Brick single-family homes throughout the Lafayette area, several of them featured on the original Advantage Design Homes website.

Tile-roof and stucco homes

Four stucco homes with tile roofs and carports, built side by side on one street in Lakeview Estates, each with its own front elevation (Lafayette Parish, 2010–2011). The company also did the street and site work there.

Duplexes and multi-unit residential

Raised duplexes in New Orleans (2008–2011), and renovation of six public-housing units in Ville Platte (completed 2011).

Post-storm rebuilding on raised foundations

After Hurricane Katrina the company built in New Orleans: a raised duplex (2008), a matched pair of two-story homes raised on piers (2009), and a two-story duplex on block piers (2010–2011).

Light commercial

A ground-up medical office in New Iberia (2009–2010), built on the area's heavy “blackjack” clay soil; a restaurant interior buildout in a Broussard shopping center (2009–2010); and a commercial interior renovation in Lafayette (2006–2007).

Small public-sector buildings

A restroom building for a city park in Ville Platte (completed 2010), and the Ville Platte public-housing renovations.

How the work was run

Lots were bought in growing subdivisions. The company managed the trades, the schedule and local inspections through completion. Features called out in company paperwork include granite counters, hardwood floors, tankless water heaters, windstorm sheathing, and low-E windows, along with tile roofs and brick exteriors.

We also completed a number of smaller remodel and repair jobs in the Lafayette area in 2009–2010.
